Southwest Research Center
SWC was established in 1959 to conduct problem-solving research and education programs that are relevant to the agricultural interests in the Southwest Region of Missouri. As part of the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station, SWC is one of 17 off-campus farms and center that form a network of outdoor laboratories to conduct place-based agriculture-related research. The 898-acre research farm serves a 22-county area, and is assisted by an Advisory Board of individuals selected from the region. Located four miles southwest of Mount Vernon on Highway H, the facility is easily accessed from Interstate 44, as well as Highways 97 and 39. The Mount Vernon Municipal Airport is located on university property.
