Electric Department
The 12kv project will be broken into seven phases over a five year period. Phases one and two were completed and converted over in 2002. Phases three and four were completed in the fall of 2003.

The electric supply and distribution system is owned by the City of Mt. Vernon and is currently undergoing an upgrade to 12kv to handle the growth and demand both on a residential and commercial level. The department has four full-time employees utilizing two aerial bucket trucks to maintain the system and install equipment for new customers.
