Designation of Ward One
Ward Number One shall be composed of all that portions of the corporate limits of the City of Mount Vernon, Missouri, lying and situated north and west of a line described as follows, to wit: Beginning at a point on the centerline of Business Loop I-44 where the same intersects the west boundary lines of the City of Mount Vernon, Missouri; thence in an easterly direction along the centerline of said Business Loop I-44 to the intersection of the centerline of Spring Park Boulevard (otherwise known as Missouri Highway No. 39); thence in a northerly direction along said centerline of said Spring Park Boulevard to the intersection of Cherry Street; thence in an easterly direction along the centerline of said Cherry Street to the intersection of the centerline of McCanse Street; thence in a northerly direction along said centerline of McCanse Street, and a continuation thereof, to the north boundary line of the City of Mount Vernon, Missouri.

Biography: J.N. Greene is a retired physician who moved to the Mt. Vernon area 17 years ago to enjoy the pleasure of living in this area of friendly people and beautiful scenery. J.N. Greene and his wife have been married for 51 years and have three children and seven grandchildren.

J.N. Greene holds a BSME from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and an M.D. degree from Northwestern Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 as a Flight Surgeon.

J.N. Greene is currently serving on the Finance, Public Works and Street Committee. J.N. Greene was appointed Alderman of Ward 1 on July 29, 2004. He was elected to the same post in April 2005 and re-elected in April 2007.

Biography: Craig Nelson is a life-long resident of Mount Vernon. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1989 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with an Associate in Law Enforcement from Missouri Southern State University in 1995. He is currently a Service coordinator for the State of Missouri with the Division of Youth Services. Craig is also a Volunteer Firefighter for the Mount Vernon Fire Department for the past 18 years.

Craig and his wife Michele, who is also a life-long resident of Mount Vernon, stay busy with their 4 boys. Craig is a sports fanatic and a die-hard fan of the Mount Vernon Mountaineers and the Kansas City Chiefs football team.

Craig was elected to the City Council in April of 2012
